Monitoring – SYRIZA: Movements in Parliament and the European Parliament

He wants to hide a “surprise” every day SYRIZA per Maximus. The initiatives they are taking want to be institutional in nature, and in essence, in Kumunduru, they are insisting on two things:

• In the immediate opening of parliament, which they claim the government avoided. After suggesting a pre-day debate and deciding to hold it during the week of August 22-26, the official opposition returned and, in a letter to the Committee on Institutions and Transparency, demanded that they be convened this week.

• Anyone who has been involved or knows information about the surveillance case must appear in Parliament for a hearing: New Commander of the EMP, President of the Communications Privacy Office, former Commander of the EMP Mr. M. Contoleon, former General Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Dimitriadis and a prosecutor seconded to the EMP.

The signatories and members of the Committee on Institutions and Transparency G. Katrugalos, N. Voutsis, T. Xanthopoulos, S. Lappas and P. Polakis state in their letter that “there are very serious reasons for the urgent convening of the Committee, both because of the scandal itself surveillance by EYP and through the Predator software, and because of the government’s efforts to cover it up.”

However, SYRIZA is dissatisfied with the fact that the government refuses to immediately meet the Committee on Institutions and Transparency. As the saying goes, “Obviously there are delays. But in their attempts to do so, they make their guilt scream even louder. No matter what they do, no matter how hard they try to silence, Eol’s bag is open. Nothing escapes the responsibility of Mr. Mitsotakis for the sabotage he has undertaken.”

SYRIZA’s initiatives will not be limited to the Greek Parliament. Dimitris Papadimoulis made a proposal to discuss this issue at the first plenary session of the European Parliament in early September. This idea was supported, in addition to the left group, by the Social Democrats, the Greens and the Renewed Europe.

The rapporteur of the competent subcommittee on spyware is Sophie Id’Veld, who has already criticized the actions of the Greek government. After the commission’s intervention, SYRIZA considers it very likely that the European Parliament will organize a mission to Greece of an inter-party delegation in order to have a complete picture of the situation.
