Manzos to Monitor: It’s Not a Legal Mistake, It’s an Unconstitutional Choice

His representative PASOK-Movement for Change.institutional protection of the country for the security of communications and individual freedoms.

“Mr. Mitsotakis spoke of an unknown head of government who brought the Ministry of the Interior into his office, put a man he liked very much at the head, and asked his close associate and nephew, Mr. Dimitriadis, to supervise him and these two comrades, whom he hurried to cover up, he was not informed. This was stated by the Prime Minister. I don’t know if he convinced anyone,” said D. Manzos and added:

“Then he told us – and this is very interesting – that spying on Mr. Androulakis is a “legal error”. If this is a legitimate mistake, how does he claim to have stopped it if he knew about it? If this is a legal error, then why is a Legislative Contents Act needed to change the institutional framework? Will it make “legitimate more legal”? Why didn’t the prime minister have the courage to say that this was not a “legal error” but an unconstitutional choice? That this is not an EYP “mistake”. It is a slide into absolutist semi-state methods.”

Referring to the Prime Minister’s initiatives, a spokesman for PASOK-Movement for Change said: “Why doesn’t he have the courage to tell citizens that his centralized state state has now collapsed with a bang?” His choice to combine the intelligence service and a bunch of other agencies in his cabinet has failed miserably, and he’s the one pointing the finger at the opposition and talking about conspiracies. He talks about destabilizing scenarios, about unknown wars, unknown enemies, and is he going to defend our country’s right to institutional armor? Will he come now, after the holiday, to promise to protect our country and our personal freedoms?”

Concluding his speech, D. Manzos stressed that for PASOK-Movement for Change, “judicial investigation is very important. We will persevere institutionally and with great dignity to the end in the search for the truth, both politically and legally, because this concerns not only our president, but all citizens and our democracy.”
