In Russia, according to Kommersant, more than 40 “nominal” volunteer battalions to participate in the war in Ukraine. Evgeny Balitsky, the “chief” of the Zaporozhye region appointed by the Russian side, signed an order on preparations for holding a “referendum” on the unification of this region with Russia. According to the RIA Novosti news agency, the “document” was signed in Melitopol during a forum called “We are together with Russia”, which “gathered more than 700 delegates from across the region”.
