Thus, Niculae Badelau, the vice-president of the Audit Chamber of Romania, an important institution of the Romanian state, was detained by DNA with a proposal for preventive arrest for serious (criminal) corruption. Who is this gentleman, for those who do not (yet) know, I will find a place for a short presentation a little later; for now, I’ll focus on the press release issued by the aforementioned institution, which reads as follows:

“The Court of Accounts of Romania took note of the notification of the National Anti-corruption Office regarding the measures ordered by the prosecutors against Mr. Niculae Badalau, consultant accountant, vice-president of the Audit Authority.

The Accounting Chamber of Romania reiterates its position of support for the court decision and expresses confidence that the competent authorities will resolve this case in accordance with the provisions of the Romanian Constitution and relevant regulations.

Please note that in accordance with Article 54 of Law No. 94/1992 on the Organization and Activities of the Accounting Chamber, reissued with further amendments and additions, .

If you think that statement is a little presumptuous, I assure you, you are not wrong, that is exactly the intention of whoever approved (and probably put a pen to the text) its distribution – I mean, of course, about the Chief Justice, Mr. Mihai Busuyok – , and between the lines we should read the following message: Did you arrest Nikolay? And they? We still won’t kick him out. Let’s see if you can convict him and we’ll talk…!

Before we return to Mr. Niculae Bădălău, we note in passing that the current President of the Chamber of Accounts (as appears from the resume of His Excellency[1]), appointed in October 2017 to the position he currently holds, was Secretary of State and then Deputy Secretary-General in the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration at the time Liviu Dragnia was Minister of Development and, so to speak, Vice-Premier ‘jerom minister.

At the time when Dačian Čološ was Prime Minister, Mihai Busuyok became Secretary General of the Ministry of Development, so after Liviu Dragnja (very angry that he could not be Prime Minister) formed his first government with the prime minister’s proxy, he will become the general secretary of the government.

A key supporter of Draghnia, this Mihai Busuyok, whom he also recommended for the position of president of the Chamber of Accounts, in order to complete Draghnia’s scheme of taking over state institutions for the benefit of the cabal led by Draghnia (temporarily, as you know, because Justice, who tried in vain to bring her to her knees , finally took it up, and his friends, who did not betray him, made him forget).

With that in mind, I don’t think it’s hard to understand the tone of the press release issued under the auspices of the current leadership of the Audit Chamber, because it’s the same old conflict between a judiciary that wants to do its job, on the one hand, and one of reliable members of the former Dragni chamber, i.e. Nicolae Badelau, on the other hand.

And Nikulai deserves that he will not be (completely) abandoned by the members of the brotherhood he belongs to, even the public believes (naively) that this brotherhood will no longer exist.

The first and most expected supporter is, of course, the current president of the PSD, Marcel Čolaku, who did not include him in the lists for the parliament in the 2020 elections, but took care to make vajnic Niculaie the adviser on accounts and vice-president of the Chamber of Accounts[2]. And Marcel Čolaku is nothing more, nothing less than the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies and the future prime minister of Romania, right?

The detention of Nikulaje Bedalau did not provoke outrage from the current ruling coalition, PNL and UDMR, who joined the PSD, putting a thick scarf on the drum of Dambovi politics.

And if we have come here, let me make a quick remark: if we are not invited to join Schengen, before pointing the finger at the member villages that are against it, it does not hurt to think again, because perhaps their mistrust is closely related associated with these egregious cases of politically supported corruption, such as Nicolae Badelau’s, which the PSD (together with the government coalition) has no immediate intention of abandoning.

The only, but absolutely only, party that took a decisive position in the case of Nicolai Bedalau and the front, which can be seen from the mail of those who manage the Court of Accounts of Romania – I repeat, the fundamental institution of democracy, the Romanian State! – this is USR via Catalin Drulu clearly demanding the recall of Bedalau from the position he (still) holds[3].

In the Chamber of Accounts, Nikulaje Bedalau is the Vice-President of the Auditing Body, which is his function in the institution[4]: “… an external state audit, in accordance with European and national legislation, on the way of managing the funds related to the financial assistance provided to Romania by the European Union. The only competent national body that carries out an external state audit of the management of irrevocable financial assistance, the powers established by the normative acts of the community and national legislation, their implementation is carried out in accordance with the constitutional provisions of Art. 148 – Integration into the European Union“.

Incredible, isn’t it!

What can be seen from Stockholm, The Hague or Vienna? That the wolf is the guardian of our sheep. That we put some of the most corrupt politicians in positions from which they have to certify the legality of how European funds are spent in Romania. And the ruling coalition is doing everything possible to ensure that Romania has full freedom of movement in Schengen…

If Nikulai Bedalau is not urgently dismissed before the JAI meeting on December 8 this year, why should we (re)ask questions about our Schengen integration, I ask (rhetorically)? It is better, according to President Iohannis, to leave it for another time, according to the Greek calendars.

Mr. Nikulaje Bedalau has an impressive resume, it is hard to doubt his professional skills. Two degrees from the University of Agricultural Sciences and the Institute of Agronomy, a law degree from Bioterra University, three master’s degrees from the National Defense College, ASE and SNSPA and a doctorate from Wallachia University in Tirgovishte.
