The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on Saturday that 1,059 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the last 24 hours, which is 168 less than the previous day, reports news.ro. At the same time, four deaths were reported, one of which occurred before the control interval. The number of hospitalized patients decreased.

“In the last day, 1,059 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) were registered, which is 168 less than the previous day. 233 new cases in 24 hours are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection,” the Ministry of Health reported.

Bucharest reported 176 new cases, TimiÈ™oara – 74, and the rest of the counties reported less than 50 new infections.

In contrast to new confirmed cases, 72 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 1,316, which is 108 less than the previous day. Also, 123 people were hospitalized in ATZ, which is 5 less than the previous day. Of the 123 patients admitted to the HTP, 113 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized, 122 are minors, 120 were hospitalized in wards, which is 24 less than the previous day, and 2 in the intensive care unit, 2 more than the previous day.

By Saturday, 66,972 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 had died.

Between 23/09/2022 (10:00) and 24/09/2022 (10:00) INSP reported 4 deaths (3 males and 1 female), of which 1 death was registered before the control interval. Out of 4 fatal cases, 2 were registered in the age category of 60-69 years and 2 in the age category of 70-79 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases, none of them had been vaccinated.

Over the last day, 2,501 OT-PCR tests were conducted (1,629 based on case definition and medical protocol and 872 by request) and 9,893 rapid antigen tests. To date, 13,492,622 RT-PCR tests and 11,529,940 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
