​Over the last day, 2,060 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 167 less than the previous day. The most new cases – 280 – are in Bucharest, where the infection rate remains the highest in the country – 2.37 per thousand.

The 440 new cases in 24 hours came from reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.

In contrast to new confirmed cases, 124 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

The number of hospitalized people falls below 2,000

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 1,940, which is 78 less than the previous day.

160 people were hospitalized in intensive care, which is 3 more than the previous day. Of the 160 patients admitted to the ATI, 137 are unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 205 are minors, 202 in the wards, which is 12 less than the previous day, and 3 in intensive care, 1 more than the previous day.

15 deaths in the last day

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,825 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the interval 09/07/2022 (10:00) – 09/08/2022 (10:00) the National Institute of Health and Welfare reported 15 deaths (7 men and 8 women), there were no deaths before the control interval.

Among the 15 fatal cases, 1 was registered in the age category of 40-49 years, 3 in the age category of 60-69 years, two in the age category of 70-79 years, and 9 in the age category over 80 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases.

Out of 15 deceased patients, 4 were vaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 3,114 RT-PCR tests were performed (2,016 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,098 by request) and 13,426 rapid antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,448,822 RT-PCR tests and 11,332,023 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
