Over the last day, 2,630 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 467 less than the previous day. The most new cases were registered in Bucharest – 364 – it also has the highest infection rate in the country – 3.36 per thousand.

455 of the new cases in the last 24 hours are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection. In contrast to new confirmed cases, 151 people were reconfirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

How many patients are hospitalized

In specialized medical facilities, the number of people hospitalized in the COVID-19 wards is 2,428, which is 140 less than the previous day.

185 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, which is 23 less than the previous day. Of the 185 patients admitted to the HTI, 159 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized patients, 307 are minors, 303 are in wards, which is 11 less than the previous day, and 4 are in intensive care, as in the previous day.

19 deaths in the last day

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,728 people with a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

In the period from 31.08.2022 (10:00) to 01.09.2022 (10:00) INSP reported 19 deaths (12 men and 7 women), 1 death was recorded before the control interval.

Out of 19 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category of 40-49 years, 2 – in the age category of 60-69 years, 5 – in the age category of 70-79 years, and 11 – in the age category over 80 years.

18 deceased had concomitant diseases, 1 patient had no concomitant diseases.

Of the 19 deceased patients, 6 were vaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 3,363 RT-PCR tests were performed (2,229 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,134 on request) and 13,987 rapid antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,429,408 RT-PCR tests and 11,251,733 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
