​Over the last day, 3,319 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 331 less than the previous day. The most new cases – 453 – are in Bucharest, where the infection rate is the highest in the country – 4.36 per thousand.

621 new cases in the last 24 hours are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

In contrast to newly confirmed cases, 176 people tested positive again after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 is also decreasing

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2,981, which is 68 less than the previous day.

245 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, which is 6 less than the previous day.

Of the 245 patients admitted to the HTI, 199 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized, 344 are minors, 342 are in wards, which is 13 less than the previous day, and 2 are in intensive care, as in the previous day.

16 deaths in the last day

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,612 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 25/08/2022 (10:00) and 26/08/2022 (10:00) INSP reported 16 deaths (9 males and 7 females), with no deaths reported prior to the reference interval.

Out of 16 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category of 40-49 years, 1 – in the age category of 50-59 years, 3 – in the age category of 60-69 years, 4 – in the age category of 70-79 years, 7 – in the village of age category older than 80 years.

All the dead had concomitant diseases and 15 were unvaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 3,221 OT-PCR tests were conducted (2,141 according to the case definition and medical protocol and 1,080 according to the request) and 15,095 rapid antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,410,902 RT-PCR tests and 11,176,145 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
