
In the last day, slightly more than 9 thousand new cases of COVID-19 were registered. Health Minister Alexandrou Rafila says that “stabilization of growth in the sixth wave of the pandemic” can be discussed early next week.
- “Yesterday we had more than 11,000 cases, but compared to the previous week, on the same day of Tuesday, several hundred cases less.
- Today we have just over 9,000 cases, again down a few hundred from last Wednesday.
- If these numbers are confirmed, early next week we will probably be able to discuss the stabilization of the increase in the number of cases in this sixth wave of the pandemic,” Rafila said at the start of the government meeting.
He also said that stocks of already used antiviral drugs are being replenished and that hospitalization capacity will be “strictly controlled”, including in intensive care units.
Over the last day, 9,106 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, according to the Ministry of Health, which is 2,590 less than the previous day.
The highest number of cases is in Bucharest – 1,801. In addition, the incidence rate in the capital is approaching the threshold of 10 ppm and currently stands at 9.67 ppm.
1,757 of the new cases in 24 hours are from reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.
In contrast to new confirmed cases, 372 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.
Almost 4 thousand hospitalized patients with COVID-19
In specialized medical facilities, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 3,995, which is 37 less than the previous day.
Also, 284 people were hospitalized in ATZ, which is 7 more than the previous day. Of the 284 patients admitted to the HTI, 247 are unvaccinated.
Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 552 are minors, 547 are in the wards, which is 31 less than the previous day, and 5 are in the intensive care unit, 1 less than the previous day.
From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,090 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
Between 02/08/2022 (10:00) and 03/08/2022 (10:00) INSP reported 41 deaths (20 males and 21 females), one fatal case was registered before the control interval.
Out of 41 deaths, 3 were registered in the age category of 50-59 years, 6 in the age category of 60-69 years, 12 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 20 in the age category of over 80 years.
40 deceased had concomitant diseases, 14 were vaccinated.
How many Romanians were checked?
Over the last day, 5,643 RT-PCR tests were conducted (3,480 based on case definition and medical protocol and 2,163 based on request) and 23,090 rapid antigen tests.
To date, 13,327,361 RT-PCR tests and 10,806,569 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
