The Ministry of Health announced that in the last 24 hours, 2,165 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were registered in Romania, which is 1,942 less than the previous day, News.ro reports.

756 cases were registered in Bucharest, 172 new cases in Ilfov, 138 in Prahova, 132 in Constanta, 84 in Dolj, 83 in Iași, 67 in Timișoara and 65 in Mures.

Unlike the newly confirmed cases, 72 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive, the cited source also said.

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 1,895, which is 171 more than the previous day.

Also, 108 people were hospitalized in ATZ, which is 5 more than the previous day. Out of 108 patients admitted to the HRP, 83 are unvaccinated. Of the total number of hospitalized patients, 328 are minors, 326 are in wards, which is 63 more than the previous day, and 2 are in the intensive care unit, the same as the previous day.

To date, 65,813 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died.

In the interval 16.07.2022 (10:00) – 17.07.2022 (10:00) INSP reported 1 death (female), there were no deaths before the control interval. Death was registered at the age of 40-49 years. The patient who died had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated.

Over the last day, 2,410 RT-PCR tests were conducted (1,040 – according to the diagnosis and medical protocol and 1,370 – according to the request) and 7,220 rapid antigen tests. To date, 13,251,003 RT-PCR tests and 10,486,989 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
