In the last day, 6,779 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is less than the previous day, when a record number of diseases was registered in the last 4 and a half months.

Over the last day, 6,779 new cases of SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID -19) were registered, which is 879 less than the previous day. According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, 1,345 new cases in 24 hours were from reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

In contrast to newly confirmed cases, 190 people tested positive again after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

The most new cases – 1,306 – were recorded in Bucharest. It is followed by Cluj – 544, Constanta – 453 and TimiÈ™oara – 305.

Inpatients

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 2,301, which is 97 more than the previous day. Also, 144 people were hospitalized at the ATZ, which is 8 more than the previous day. Of the 144 patients admitted to the ATI, 122 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized, 379 are minors, 376 are in wards, 2 more compared to the previous day, and 3 are in intensive care units, 2 more compared to the previous day.

To date, 65,836 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died.

In the period from 19.07.2022 (10:00) to 20.07.2022 (10:00) INSP reported 12 deaths (8 men and 4 women), no deaths were registered before the control interval.

Out of 12 fatal cases: 1 was registered in the age category of 50-59 years, 2 in the age category of 60-69 years, 4 in the age category of 70-79 years and 5 in the age category over 80 years.

All registered deaths were from patients who had comorbidities.

Of the 12 dead, 7 were unvaccinated and 5 were vaccinated.

TESTING

Over the last day, 5,150 RT-PCR tests were performed (2,796 based on case definition and medical protocol and 2,354 by request) and 19,248 rapid antigen tests. To date, 13,263,779 RT-PCR tests and 10,538,233 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
