​Over the last day, 9,339 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 463 less than the previous day. Bucharest has the most cases – 2,569 – where the incidence has increased to 7.76 cases per thousand.

Counties with the highest number of cases Cluj – 619 new cases and an incidence rate of 6.19 per thousand, Constant – 460 new cases and incidence rate of 4.94 per thousand Tymosh – 420 new cases and incidence rate of 3.81 ppm.

1,822 new cases in 24 hours were from reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after initial infection.

In contrast to new confirmed cases, 272 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.

How many patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized

In specialized medical institutions, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 3,709, which is 138 more than the previous day.

253 people were hospitalized in intensive care, which is 20 more than the previous day.

Of the 253 patients admitted to the HTI, 214 are unvaccinated.

Of the total number of hospitalized patients, 611 are minors, 607 are in wards, which is 13 more than the previous day, and 4 are in intensive care, 2 less than the previous day.

12 deaths in the last day

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 65,935 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died in Romania.

In the period from 27.07.2022 (10:00) to 28.07.2022 (10:00) INSP reported 12 deaths (6 men and 6 women), there were no deaths before the control interval.

Out of 12 deaths, 1 was registered in the age category of 50-59 years, 2 in the age category of 60-69 years, 3 in the age category of 70-79 years and 6 in the age category over 80 years.

All deceased patients had concomitant diseases and 9 were unvaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 5,347 RT-PCR tests were performed (3,356 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,991 on request) and 22,818 rapid antigen tests.

To date, 13,300,548 RT-PCR tests and 10,692,212 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
