Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman has criticized the gap between women and men and said she would be paid “a lot more than she is now” if she were a man, DPA and the BBC reported on Monday, as quoted by Agerpres.

On CNN’s Christiane Amanpour Show, Coleman was asked about how seriously women are taken in Hollywood.

“Studies show that they (women) have always been box office draws…don’t mind me talking about the pay gap, but male actors are paid better because they’re said to attract audiences and, in fact, it’s something that hasn’t been relevant for decades,” she replied.

“But they still like to use this argument to not pay women as much as their male counterparts,” added the British actress.

“I’m well aware that if I was Oliver Coleman, I’d be earning a lot more than I am now… I know of a case with a 12,000% pay gap… you do the math,” Olivia Coleman said.
