American actor Robert De Niro spoke in a new interview about the joy of becoming a father, saying it is “wonderful” even at the venerable age of 80, Reuters reports.

De Niro, two-time Oscar winner for films Godfather: Part II and Angry bull (“Raging Bull”), announced last May that he is welcoming his seventh child, a daughter with partner Tiffany Chen.

Although the two did not provide details about the little one, the Hollywood tabloid reported that they would name her “Gia.”

“All the things that make me consume or worry about one thing or another just disappear when I look at her. So that in itself is wonderful,” De Niro said of the little girl in an interview with AARP: The Magazine, a magazine aimed at Americans over 50.

“But she looks at you very sweetly and absorbs you… So I don’t know how things will go with her later when she’s older, but she thinks and notices and observes,” he added.

“It’s really interesting. So, you know, I’m an 80-year-old father, and it’s great, and I want to stay here as long as possible to enjoy it,” De Niro added.

But he’s not the only old Hollywood man who became a father again last year, with the legendary Al Pacino giving birth to a new child at the age of 83.

AARP magazine published an interview with Robert De Niro just two days after he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Killers of the flower moonMartin Scorsese.

He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Godfather IIuntil Mad Bull earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Despite falling short of box office expectations, Killers of the Flower Moon received 10 nominations at the Academy Awards this year, including Best Director and Best Actress (Lily Gladstone).

The next gala ceremony of awarding the “Oscar” will take place on March 10.
