US rapper Sean Combs, known by his stage name “Puff Daddy”, is being sued by a second woman who claims the performer drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1991, Reuters and the BBC reported, News.ro reported. .
In the complaint, which was addressed to the BBC, the woman notes that the attack happened during a meeting with the rapper.
Last week, Combs reached a settlement in another lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault brought by R&B singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, his ex-girlfriend. She claimed that the producer raped and beat her for more than 10 years, starting when she was 19 and he was 37.
The representative of the rapper called the new accusations “made up and unbelievable”. “It’s just an attempt to get money and nothing more,” a representative for Combs told the BBC on Thursday.
The current plaintiff, Joy Dickerson-Neal, says she knew Combs, who goes by the stage names “Puff Daddy” and “P Didd,” through acquaintances. She also starred in one of his videos.
According to the complaint, she “reluctantly” agreed to meet Combs on Jan. 3, 1991, at a Harlem restaurant where she worked, and he “insisted on keeping her company while she attended several events in the city.”
Woman says Puff Daddy filmed sexual assault
She claims that the rapper then drugged her, “as a result of which she was in such a physical state that she could not stand or walk on her own.” He later drove her to where he was staying, where he sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint.
She claims that she later found out that he secretly filmed everything and showed the pictures to several people. Documents in the case show that after the alleged attack, her life went “downhill” – she faced mental health problems and soon dropped out of college.
The lawsuit was filed hours before New York’s adult crime survivor ordinance, which allows alleged victims of sex crimes to sue after the statute of limitations, expired on Friday.
“Our client has not been able to escape the ongoing effects of the damage caused by Combs I years ago,” said Jonathan Goldhirsch, one of the plaintiff’s attorneys. “Because of the Decree on adult victims, it is possible to turn to the justice system to finally achieve justice,” he said.
A Combs representative said:
“This last-minute lawsuit is an example of how a well-intentioned law can be turned on its head. Dickerson’s 32-year story is fabricated and not credible.”
