The Hollywood Vampires, the group formed by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry, have canceled the Slovakia and Hungary shows they were supposed to play on their European tour this evening, The Mirror reports, citing news.ro. The Hungarian press writes that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor fainted in a hotel room in Budapest before the concert.
The band disappointed their fans in Budapest on Tuesday by canceling their gig at the Papp Laszlo Sport Arena at the last minute due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
The arena was already packed with spectators, some of whom had traveled hundreds of kilometers to the Hungarian capital. “Everything was ready, the stage was ready, the team behind the scenes was ready. It didn’t even occur to me that there might be a problem, especially since the band members were testing the sound system set for half a day. “No one thought that Johnny Depp would not participate, his microphone was installed by a staff member, but this is not unusual for such stars,” reads the poster of the Hungarian tabloid Blikk.
When the show’s cancellation was announced, many suspected it was Johnny Depp, who is known to have a history of drug and alcohol problems. There were also suggestions that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star had a nervous breakdown.
However, a few days later, the media from Budapest learned that the show was canceled because Johnny Depp passed out in a hotel room in the Hungarian capital and even had to call a doctor.
“All we heard was that Depp was overexcited, he couldn’t even leave the hotel. I also heard they called in a doctor to see if it was more than just rock star excess,” a hotel source said.
In social networks, a post with a photo was shared, in which it is said that Johnny Depp was seen drinking alcohol an hour before the cancellation of the concert.
The concert in Slovakia has been cancelled
Hollywood Vampires’ next European concert was scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 20, in Slovakia. But that show was also cancelled, disappointing fans.
In a statement, the band said it could not perform in Slovakia due to the “dangerous” and “incomplete” venue prepared for the performance.
The show was originally scheduled to take place at the Olympic Fields in Zvolenská Slatina, a village in central Slovakia, but was later moved to an amphitheater in Banská Bystrica, about 30 km away.
Then an announcement about the cancellation of the concert in Slovakia appeared on the band’s website.
Hollywood Vampires later released a statement on Instagram, saying: “Today, when we arrived at the venue in Slovakia to begin preparations for tonight’s show, it quickly became clear that the venue was unfinished and therefore unsafe for both the band and the general public.”
“The band is very saddened by this recent and unfortunate turn of events and hopes to return when schedules allow,” Hollywood Vampires said.
In a statement on Instagram, the band said the cancellation of the Slovakia concert had “nothing to do” with the Budapest concert, but assured fans that “all members of the band are alive and well.”
According to the tour schedule, Hollywood Vampires have a new concert on Saturday night in Slupsk, Poland. “We look forward to seeing you in Poland, Germany and the USA in the coming days,” Johnny Depp’s band members said.
