Priscilla Presley accepted a settlement over the will of their daughter Lisa Marie, who died in mid-January. The widow of singer Elvis Presley challenged the legal act in court because she was not included in the inheritance, her lawyer said on Tuesday, as quoted by AFP.

Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of the “King of Rock and Roll” who also had a musical career, died unexpectedly on January 12, 2023 in Los Angeles due to cardiac arrest at the age of 54.

During her lifetime, Lisa Marie was in administrative control of Graceland, her father’s famous residence in Memphis, Tennessee, where the American star was found lifeless in August 1977.

“Graceland” has since become a place of pilgrimage for fans of the artist.

Lisa Marie named her mother Priscilla as co-executor of her impressive fortune in 2010, but amended her will in 2016 to leave her fortune to her first daughter, actress Riley Keough.

Priscilla Presley contested this new will in January 2023. According to lawyers, she learned about the changes in the will only after her daughter’s death and doubted the authenticity of Lisa Marie Presley’s signature.

On Tuesday, the widow’s lawyer, Ronson Chamoun, announced before a Los Angeles judge that the parties had reached a compromise. However, the details of this agreement have not been disclosed.

“The parties are satisfied”

“The family parties are satisfied,” the lawyer said outside the court. According to him, now the parties are “united, together and happy about the future”.

Riley Keough is also pleased to have put an end to this lawsuit, said her attorney, Justin Gold.

Priscilla Presley, 77, divorced Elvis Presley in 1973, ending a six-year marriage.

“I want to declare that there was never any legal process against my beloved niece,” the American star’s widow said in a statement.

“As a family, we are happy to have resolved this issue together,” she added, and asked the media to respect “the family’s privacy to mourn Lisa Marie.”

Riley Keough, 33, is an actress who made her mark in the blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road and more recently in the independent film Zola.

Lisa Marie Presley left behind two other daughters, twins Harper and Finley, who were born on October 7, 2008. She also had a son, Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide at the age of 27 on July 12, 2020. (Agerpres)
