Actress Gwyneth Paltrow says she is not at fault in a 2016 ski accident in Utah that left a man seriously injured. Thus, it contradicts the testimony of the only witness at the scene, writes Reuters.
Gwyneth Paltrow, 50, told a hearing Friday that she was skiing with her two children and that she was actually hit from behind by Terry Sanderson, a 50-year-old retiree. The 76-year-old optometry specialist who filed the lawsuit filed a lawsuit against the actress and is seeking more than $300,000 in damages for the incident, which occurred at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah.
In court documents, Sanderson claims he suffered “permanent brain damage,” four broken ribs and other serious injuries. He originally sought $3.1 million in damages.
“I was skiing and two skis came between my skis and then I felt my body push me and I heard a very strange sound, like a grunt,” Paltrow said. The actress stated that at that point they both fell, and she fell on top of Sanderson.
“I didn’t cause the accident, so I can’t be blamed for what happened to him afterwards,” said the actress.
She, in turn, filed a complaint in Summit County Court, seeking a nominal sum of one dollar for damages and legal costs.
The actress also questioned the testimony of Craig Ramon, a friend of Sanderson’s, who said he heard a scream before seeing Paltrow lunge at him. Paltrow denied the allegations, claiming that Ramon was several feet away from him and could not see exactly who was at fault in the accident. (Source: Agerpres)
