Daniel Nuce, the actor who portrayed Vlad the Impaler in the second season of the Netflix docu-drama Rise of Empires: The Ottomans, is undoubtedly the man of the moment. The way he managed to recreate the image of the Romanian ruler and, above all, the antithesis between him and the conqueror of Byzantium, Mohammed II, quickly attracted him to the attention of a wide audience, especially since the series was broadcast to almost 200 countries.

Not only the domestic success of Netflix products, but also the charisma and acting of Daniel made the young actor on everyone’s lips. And, obviously, everyone wanted to meet him and learn more about him.

So I invited him to the HotNews studio to talk to him not only about the film, but also about his projects, about his vision of the historical character he played, about the Romanian acting school, about young Romanian actors, about their chances to show their talent in international production, about the differences between the “golden generation” of Romanian cinema and the current one, and much more.

What you will learn from the actor Daniel Nutse from the video interview:

  • Cem Yigit, the actor who played Mehemet II, was instructed by the director that when Vlad the Impaler entered the room, he should give off a thrill of terror.”
  • “Although I was preparing for the fight scenes, I had done it before in Romania, in Turkey I was told that I had to learn how to fight with a jatagan. And it was something completely different from everything I knew, because the fighting style is completely different.”
  • “I tried to print something authentically Romanian. Humanize Vlad Tepesh. There is a scene where I knelt down, kissed the Wallachian soil, trying to show how much Vlad loved his homeland. It was a strong message that I wanted out of this film.”
  • “Romania has never lacked talented actors. The difference between the younger generations of actors and the so-called “golden generation of cinema” was also the chances that were given to both.

You can learn more about all this from the interview that Daniel kindly gave to HotNews.ro and our readers.
