OUR Nicole Kidmanone of the “queens” of the big and small screens and an unofficial representative of AMC Cinemas, will receive an honorary award from American Film Institute (AFI)) for her contributions to the entertainment industry.

The award will be presented to the actress during an event on June 10, 2023 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Kidman is the 49th person and the first Australian actress to receive the award.

“Nicole Kidman has mesmerized viewers for decades with her daring artistry and on-screen charm. She is a force, bold in her choices and bold in her interpretations. AFI is honored to present her as the recipient of this award,” said AFI Chairman Kathleen Kennedy.

The 55-year-old actress is considered one of the best of her generation. She won an Oscar for her role in The Hours and was nominated for films such as Moulin Rouge, Rabbit Hole, The Lion and Being Ricardo. In addition, she was awarded two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Celeste in the HBO series Big Little Lies and a Golden Globe nomination for Cancellation. The other roles he excelled at were in Eyes Wide Shut, Dogville, Australia and the family adventure Paddington.

During her career, she has appeared in blockbusters and independent films, working with directors such as Jane Campion, Sofia Coppola, Baz Luhrmann, Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollack, Lars von Trier and Stanley Kubrick.

Kidman made her theater debut in London in 1998 and directed The Blue Room, a modern adaptation of the play Ronda. It won the London’s Evening Standard Award and was nominated for the Laurence Oliver Award. In 2015, he returned to the West End stage in Anna Ziegler’s Photograph 51.
