OUR Charles Cullen former nurse who worked in hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where he assisted in operations and cared for patients. But it soon became clear that in fact he was a serial killer.
During his 16-year career, Cullen is believed to have killed a total of about 400 people by secretly injecting them with insulin and digoxin. The story of how his criminal activities were uncovered is presented in the new Netflix movie:good nurse(Good babysitter). In the thriller based on the book of the same name by Charles Graeber, the main roles are played by Eddie Redmayne as Cullen and Jessica Chastain like his sister and nurse Amy.
Instead of focusing on Cullen’s early crimes, The Good Nurse focuses on the beginning of the end of the infamous killer. He himself had a long history of being fired from the hospitals where he worked, but the real “downfall” began when Amy began to suspect Charles’s role in the unexpected deaths.
Shortly after admission to each hospital, stable patients died under suspicious circumstances. For example, a woman recovering from an allergic reaction who has just met her love at the age of 77 suddenly loses her life. A newly minted mother who survived an accident dies as unexpectedly as many recovering ones. Seven weeks later, local authorities call from the hospital and begin an investigation into the mysterious deaths.
Amy works with the police to find evidence that proves Cullen’s guilt. In fact, during a dinner between them that ended in a fight, she was wearing a bed bug. The scene actually happened, and the filmmakers brought it to the big screen as the event that led to Cullen’s arrest.
When asked what made him kill hundreds of people who trusted him, Cullen replies in the film: “I was not stopped.” In fact, he claimed to have committed the pity killings.
Cullen eventually pleaded guilty to 22 counts of murder in New Jersey and seven counts in Pennsylvania, as well as six counts of attempted murder.
Charles Cullen, known as the “Angel of Death”, is currently serving a life sentence in a New Jersey State Penitentiary.
