The Scottish actor has died at the age of 72. Robbie Coltrane who became known to the general public as Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series.

Robbie had a unique talent and shared with Michael Gabon (who also starred in the Harry Potter films playing Professor Dumbledore) three consecutive BAFTAs for Best Actor for Cracker in 1994, 1995 and 1996, his agent recalled.

“He was great, he had a bright mind, and after 40 years as his agent, I will miss him,” she added.

Coltrane came to prominence in the mid-1990s for his role as Dr. Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald, a psychologist who assists the Manchester police in the British crime series Cracker.
