After his death in 2016 Alan Rickman he left behind not only a brilliant career, but also one of the most characteristic roles of the serieswith Harry Potter its one Severus Snape, but also his personal diaries spanning decades.

The British actor has been recording since 1972 but from 1992 and then they were more consistent and organized, thus taking the form of a calendar.

Now an anthology of Rickman’s diaries called “Crazy Deep: The Diaries of Alan Rickman” will be on the shelves of bookstores from publishers Canongate, in his conclusion Alan Taylor.

Below you can see Alan Rickman’s diaries from that period. 2000-2011 when, that is, he learned about the terrorist attack on Twin Towers, found himself eating with Queen, she gasped at the sight of him Liam Gallagher at the Brit Awards, but most of all he wore his outfit Severus Snape, once and for all, leaving his own unique mark on the cinematic universe of Harry Potter.

I’m sitting by the pool and feeling nothing for SR, and this worries me a lot – or is it because I’m reading The Experience by Martin Amis?

First conversation with JK Rowling. Her sister picks up the phone – “She’s not here – should I leave her a message?”, Cackling comes from behind … “Sorry!”. LAST DAY IN CH.

At the end of the day, Hedwig the owl flies through the large dining room and drops the Nimbus 2000 on Harry’s chest. Dave, the coach, didn’t sleep because he was worried about everything. Just amazing stuff.

ATTACK ON THE WORLD TRADE CENTER IN NEW YORK.

11:30 Rehearsal [για το «Private Lives» στο Λονδίνο με τη Λίντσεϊ Ντάνκαν]. First act. As the dance rehearsal is about to begin, the first messages arrive from New York. Total shock. The whole rehearsal becomes a trifle, but we do it anyway.

Finally, I come back at 7:30 and just watch it over and over on TV like I want it imprinted on my mind, my soul, my life… This plane was like a knife going through butter .

HARRY POTTER PREMIERE.

6:30 p.m. The film should only be seen on the big screen. It takes on scale and depth to match John Williams’ hideous soundtrack. After that, the party at the Savoy was much more fun.

2002

I put on the Harry P costume again. I need to tighten it up.

HARRY POTTER 2.

6:50 am, pickup (I’m writing this at 2:00 am). It’s nice to see them all again, but it’s like a dream, like it never ends. And in a sense it hasn’t stopped – and won’t stop…

Richard Harris comes down with the flu, a signal for Maggie Smith to cover her face with a handkerchief.

Extreme fatigue at the end of the day. Somehow one hour of sleep is not enough. Return to hotel for club sandwich, chips, red wine, Ground Force and sleep.

FIRST DAY OF “LOVE REALLY”.

i talk to him [ατζέντη] Paul Lyon-Marris on my exit from CP, what he thinks will happen. But let’s again find ourselves in a field of conflict. I repeat, no more CP. They don’t want to hear it.

2003

Harry Potter [3].

7:00, collection. Round table with David Thewlis, Michael Gabon, Maggie Smith, Warwick Davis.

More or less the same. But what can you do, how not to remove the scenes – one choir, 300 children, one performance. People are reading in the background.

May 2

8:40, collection. In the hallway with Dan Radcliffe. He’s so focused right now. Serious and focused, but with a sense of humor. I still don’t think he is a real actor, but he will no doubt be a director/producer. And he has such a quiet, worthy support from his parents. There is no pressure.

7:00, collection. Snape/Lupin class.

The day starts fantastically: the screen falls like a thug on my head, a sudden blackout is followed by a one-day gloom. Alfonso [Κουαρόν, ο σκηνοθέτης] he got very angry with me. I love him too much to handle this so I cried backstage and we worked it out. He’s under the usual pressure from the CP and starts rehearsing with the cameras before the actors and these guys need directions. They don’t know their lines and Emma’s articulation. [Γουάτσον] she is bad for hours. Also, my proposed rehearsal will be with a replacement from France.

2004

New York

4:00 p.m. Harry Potter 3. World premiere.

Arriving in Radio City, I felt like one of The Beatles. Thousands of fans screamed as we got out of the cars. Mostly for Daniel Radcliffe, but the turnout was for everyone. Not to mention we took the stage with 6,000 people below us.

Alfonso did an amazing job. It’s a very mature film, so bold that it made me smile over and over again. Each frame is the work of an artist and a storyteller. Dazzling effects are an organic part of the film, not a gimmick. Later, I’m back at the hotel with Ariel Dorfman, who takes selfishness to incredibly sweet heights. He just likes being the way he is.

11:30 Lunch at the Mansion House – 13:15. (with the queen).

People suddenly seem older, some wear hats and talk, men wear red uniforms and walk with canes. There is a feeling that we must accept or not accept our place in the regime. Vivienne Westwood was there, for heaven’s sake. The Queen was dressed in yellow and laughed along with Richard Wilson. But for the most part – looking out at the balcony with the students in T-shirts and looking down – it felt like three decades. And timid pride that I was there at least once.

KP. LAST DAY;

7:00, collection. Last scene with Pentia [τον ηθοποιό Πρέντραγκ Μπέλακ] to which I rudely remarked that it was like working with a wardrobe on wheels. It has nothing to do with him as a (complex, attractive) person, but rather how he manages to trick you every chance he gets.

I feel like I’m shining in this movie with Mike’s top models. [του σκηνοθέτη Μάικ Νιούελ]. He’s under pressure (as is Alfonso) and it’s all about hitting. We’re only talking about scenes.

2006

6:45 a.m., gathering. I realized that the moment the ring and suit [του Σνέιπ] enters – something happens. It becomes alien to be talkative, smiling, open. Character guides me, draws me in. I have never been less sociable with the crew. Luckily Dan [Ράντκλιφ] she takes on this missing role with ease and charm. And with his youth.

2007

11:15 pm Tunbridge Wells and Waterstones bookstore. I assumed that 20-30 people would be waiting for midnight. Probably 300-400. And the line moves slowly. I approached a friendly security guard. — Have you read books? No. “Have you seen the films?” One of them. “I play them.” Oh yeah! There will be a massacre if I get in line. “I’ll call the manager.”

(The manager enters.) “Ah! Hi!”

6:30 a.m., gathering. After a sleepless night. Scene 305 – Or, Severus Snape’s last breath.

Here I am with Dan, Emma and Rupert 10(?) years later (Emma on vacation at Brown University) with imaginary Nagini bleeding all over my neck. [το φίδι του Βόλντεμορτ], all three of them stand with their brows furrowed and a little out of breath. I have a hard time remembering specific scenes over the years, mainly because all the decisions are made in committee rooms, not on set. We listen while NG [ο σκηνοθέτης Ντέιβιντ Γέιτς] it tells us what we’re thinking and why (and in some cases tells a story…) and a bit of creativity erupts.

THE LAST DAY OF HARRY POTTER.

6:15 a.m., gathering.

It’s hard to believe. I think even Daniel was shocked by the finality of this. Cameras were everywhere, it seems (for documentaries). [Ρωτήθηκα] “How do you feel;” Before I feel it, before the feeling has a name. “It’s private,” I replied, “and I don’t share it with that,” pointing into the lens.

XP 7 PART 2. IT’S ALL OVER.

I’m going to Trafalgar Square – I need an hour. As soon as I arrive, the red carpet is everywhere. The screen, the podium, the interviewer and thousands of screaming and singing “Snape, Snape, Severus Snape…”. The carpet arrives at Leicester Square for the film at 20:00.

I felt out of place watching this – to tell Snape’s story, you have to turn everything upside down, and the camera loses focus. The audience, however, is very pleased.
