OUR war in Ukraine which is ongoing is one of the topics of discussion that, in addition to films and premieres, excites those present on the Lido in Venice, where the 79th International Film Festival takes place.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine became public again on Tuesday, when Tilda Swindon she made a political statement with her dyed yellow hair.
“It is a great honor for me to have (in my hair) half of the Ukrainian flag,” the actress said during a press conference dedicated to Joanna Hogg’s film “The Eternal Daughter.” Controversy arose when one of the journalists commented on her appearance, which was complemented by a blue blouse in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Swindon repeated the same words later in a related question.

Set during lockdown, The Eternal Daughter follows an artist and her elderly mother as they come across a series of well-kept secrets as they return to the family’s old home, now a hotel with a mysterious past. Swindon plays both mother and daughter, Rosalind and Julie.
Hogg said inspiration for The Eternal Daughter came in 2008 when she read Rudyard Kipling’s 1904 short story “They”. A story that moved her, in which the narrator, a grieving father, visits a mysterious house inhabited by child spirits. Like most of Hogg’s work, The Eternal Daughter is improvised and unscripted.
In fact, Hogg spoke at his best about the “brave” Swindon, who embodied both characters in the same, not different, voice.
