
“Jaws(“Shark Jaws”), his legendary horror film Steven Spielberg since 1975, earned about $2.6 million over the previous weekend in America.
Specifically, on Saturday, Americans celebrated “National Movie Day” when theater owners lowered ticket prices to $3 to encourage people to watch movies in theaters. And it worked.
More than 8.1 million people watched the film in theaters on Saturday, up from 1 million viewers the day before. While successful recent films such as Top Gun: Maverick and Spider-Man: No Home have been shown in theaters, Jaws’ big attendance has been a turning point.
It certainly helped that the film was shown in 3D and for the first time on an IMAX screen. The 3D experience, as stereographer Jeremy Carroll explained to The Hollywood Reporter website, was created to “make viewers think they are in water.”
Even 47 years after the release of “Jaws” – the perfect symbol of the future of cinema. This is the film that inspired the film studios and began releasing their blockbusters in theaters in the summer.
