Over the past year, tens of thousands of consumers, both individuals and companies, submitted reports to the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) regarding the activities of companies in the field of electricity and natural gas.

The number of complaints is 64% more than in the previous year. Most of the messages concern billing by electricity companies. ANRE representatives report that they have applied fines amounting to more than 37 million lei and publish a list of identified problems as well as fined companies.

“In 2022, we received and resolved within our authority 39,000 complaints from individuals and legal entities – beneficiaries of services provided by business entities in the electric power and natural gas sectors, of which 25,974 complaints were registered in the electric power and natural gas sector 13,027 Complaints trend continues to rise compared to previous years, with a 64% increase in complaints in 2022 compared to 2021, driven by issues consumers face in a competitive electricity and natural gas market, with the most commonly reported issues related to with the actual holiday and billing of electricity and natural gas with the application of compensation schemes and limits by suppliers, contracting of electricity and natural gas, problems arising when connecting to the natural gas/electricity system/network of users, including consumers, as well as aspects, related to the installation of measuring groups, as well as with the reading of the index displayed by them,” ANRE reports in a press release published on Thursday.

The department clarifies that the largest number of complaints, 14,940 in the electric power industry, relate to electricity bills on the competitive market. Another 298 messages related to the conclusion of contracts for the supply of electricity, 1,403 complaints related to the situation of consumers, approximately 1,300 messages were aimed at reading the consumption measurement group and the same number of connections and connections.

And in the natural gas sector, most of the reports were related to billing, and NARE received 9,544 such complaints. Out of the number of complaints received, 1,187 related to the method of connecting the gas supply system, 982 related to concluded contracts.

The top made by ANRE shows that the most reported were Enel Energie Muntenia (5,769 problems filed complaints), Electrica Furnizare (4,160 problems filed complaints), Hidroelectrica (3,998 problems filed complaints), Enel Energie (3,555 problems filed complaints) and E.On Energie Romania (1224). reported problems).

In terms of natural gas suppliers with complaints, Engie Romania (4,414 issues, complaints), E.On Energie Romania (3,296 issues, complaints), Enel Energie (713 complaints), Enel Energie Muntenia (706 issues, complaints complaints) and Electrica ranks first in Supply (447 reported problems).

As for the distributors, in the electricity sector the most problems related to the activities of E-Distribution Muntenia (3090 problems), Distribution Energie Electrică Romania (2325 reported problems), E-Distribution Banat (911 problems), E-Distribution Dobrogea (616 reported problems problems) and Distributie Energie Oltenia (504 reported problems).

In the natural gas distribution sector, the most complained about distributors were: Distrigaz Sud Rețele (1137 problems), Delgaz Grid (274 problems), Premier Energy (172 problems).
