
The accelerated increase in natural gas and electricity prices that started in the second half of 2021, with a significant impact on inflation, led to a number of intervention measures and consumer support measures among the Member States of the European Union, such as temporary solidarity contributions from crude oil, natural gas , coal and oil refining companies.
The current context is truly unprecedented both at the global, regional and local levels and calls for interventions, but they must be balanced in such a way as to ensure energy security, protect vulnerable consumers, not hinder investment and at the same time allow the proper functioning of the energy market.
Regulation (EU) 2022/1854 on emergency intervention to solve the problem of high energy prices provides for a number of measures that must be followed in the process of revising the existing national policy.
