Among the main reasons considered by non-collectors for investing in art are: works of art have been and remain a safe currency of exchange, given the increase in value over time (and not the other way around, as is the case with other assets); investing in art is not only for collectors, because art, in addition to financial attributes, instills in the owner a taste for beauty and culture.

“Arta Azi – Contemporary Art Auction” offers a selection of 161 works of contemporary art created by young generations of Romanian artists, whose artistic interests reflect current topics of the day, such as corporate work, marital relations, climate change, artificial intelligence. , social media addiction, or exploring sexuality. We list some of the works of artists that are most visited today, such as “Baba Clonțului” by Gorco (starting price 2000 euros), “Gentle Beast” by Gheorghe Fikla (which starts at the auction at a price of 1500 euros) or “The Box” by Benny Jackson, which was part of the “Hollywood” exhibition at the Kitsch Museum in Bucharest (starting price 350 euros). Benny Jackson is also inspired by American comics and knocks the childhood idol – Batman off the pedestal, imagining him in the Mega image on the corner in the work “Batman without a mask”, the starting price of which is only 350 euros. Yes, the artist offers a humorous but sharp lesson on the correct wearing of a medical mask.

At the same time, the first event of A10 by Artmark Auction House includes a section to support the independent space ETAJ – an initiative of a group of artists from Bucharest who decided to independently create their own functional ecosystem in which they can express themselves. themselves freely, organizing art events and exhibitions. Thus, the funds received from the sale of works signed by such young artists as Julian Cristea, Biver, Mircea Modrianu, Bambi Toni, Robert Obert, Ada Muntjan or Ruksandra Tudoran will be directed to the operation and support of this independent center of artistic creativity. .

The second auction of 2023 will also take place next week, January 19, and will bring together approximately 200 works of Romanian art, with very affordable starting prices.
