Bernard Arnault – LVMH. Textbook, piano, art. Plus own island in the Bahamas

The richest man on the planet remains Bernard Arnault, owner of the LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) conglomerate. He is richer than Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos, his fortune is about 175 billion dollars.

LVMH is headquartered in Paris and consists of 75 individual brands, most of which are luxury beverages, fashion and cosmetics. Its annual revenue is about $65 billion, with fashion and leather goods accounting for half of that revenue. LVMH’s market value at the end of last year was $375 billion, ahead of Mastercard, Chevron or Nestle.

Arnaud is a hermit, little known outside of France. However, the brands included in the concern are very famous – among them: Bulgari, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Sephora and, of course, Louis Vuitton.

In addition to being the richest man, LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault is also a good pianist. He took lessons on this subject and now knows how to play six etudes by Frédéric Chopin.

His other passion is reading, a favorite of romantic writers of the 19th century, beloved by Stendhal (“The Red and the Black” or “The Monastery of Parma”).

It has an extraordinary art collection that includes works by Andy Warhol, Monet, Pablo Picasso, Yves Klein and Henry Moore, among others. It also owns three newspapers: Les Echos, Le Parisien and La Tribune, as well as the magazine Connaissance des Artes.

He has his own island in the Bahamas, quite large, and is next door to David Copperfield and Johnny Depp.

Musk. Elon Musk.

The famous but at the same time controversial Elon Musk (Bloomberg estimates his fortune at $126 billion) likes to relax with a good book. Favorite book of youth? “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” had a decisive influence on him.

In addition, he is an avid gamer. Okay, this shouldn’t come as a surprise when you remember that at the age of 12, Musk even sold a video game (Blastar) for $500. Then he participated in the gaming startup Rocket Science. He really liked Deus Ex, Fallout and BioShock.

But he likes to organize parties the most. According to Ashley Vance’s book Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future, birthdays and corporate celebrations were either held in rented castles in England (where guests played hide-and-seek) or included parties in Venice, where Musk dressed as a knight.

Musk also watches series on Netflix or HBOMax. He said that he loved the series “Silicon Valley” and “Black Mirror”. He also likes historical documentaries (his idol Genghis Khan) and anime (Death Note and Evangelion).

Gautam Adani is a reserved billionaire

Despite his impressive fortune ($117 billion), little is known about Adani. He is described as a low-key businessman who keeps his personal life and petty passions away from the public eye. So who is the man who has captured the world’s attention with his ambitious plans for renewable energy, the limitations of his personal life and his growing bank balance? and

Adani dropped out of university and founded a raw materials export firm in 1988, Forbes writes. After 20 years, he already had the first billion dollars. Adani has invested in renewable energy, airports and media companies.

One of his hobbies is traveling. Adani has three private planes at his disposal. According to India Times, he owns Beechcraft, Hawker and Bombardier. If Adani isn’t using one of its planes, it’s using one of its luxury cars. In an earlier interview given to India Times, he recalled that his first vehicle was a humble scooter.

He currently has several luxury cars to choose from, including the latest BMW models, a Rolls-Royce Ghost and a Ferrari California. Adana has its own helicopters for short trips. I bought 3, let it be there because it is unknown…

Warren Buffett – life with 111 billion dollars

Read, read, read! This was the advice given by the Oracle of Omaha when asked how to become intelligent. He held up a stack of papers and said, “Read 500 of these pages every day. This is how knowledge accumulates, like compound interest.”

Buffett spends 80% of his day reading (at work – financial reports, and at home – newspapers and books).

“I read and therefore think more and make less impulsive decisions than most business people.”

Buffett loves Coke. Drink about 5 a day. “A quarter of me is Coca-Cola,” he admitted. He likes hamburgers. In 2007 (at the age of 77), he said that the doctor gave him a simple choice: “Either you eat better or do sports.” Buffett chose exercise, “the lesser of two evils.”

Be grateful, not wasteful, is another piece of his advice. “If you belong to the 1% of the happiest people, you should think about the other 99%.”

Buffett lives in the same house he bought in 1958 for $31,500 (of course, it would cost you much more to be his neighbor now).

Play a game that requires patience, Buffett also recommends. He admitted that he manages his wealth like a game. This is not surprising. He likes to stay focused while playing bridge (which, like Monopoly, takes a long time to finish). In fact, Buffett loves bridge so much that he can sometimes be found at an Omaha mall paying $7 to play with some retired guy. “Bridge is a win/lose balance. You are always doing calculations,” the billionaire believes.

He is fond of the ukulele and even writes his own songs. There is a video of him singing on YouTube.

Jeff Bezos, adventurer

Bezos has a penchant for adventure. He likes to ride horses, has been to the bottom of the oceans and even in space. In 2013, Bezos, his brother, son-in-law and parents spent 30 days on the water, restoring engine parts of the Apollo 11 spacecraft that put the first men on the moon.

“I saw an underwater wonderland—a garden of twisted F-1 engine wreckage that tells a story of a fiery, violent end—a testament to the Apollo program,” Bezos wrote.

In 2017, Bezos shared a video on Instagram celebrating the opening of one of Amazon’s wind farms. Armed only with a harness and helmet, Bezos stood on a turbine and cracked a bottle of champagne. He enjoys caving and golf

Bill Gates – tennis, books, travel

Bridge, tennis, reading or traveling – all this fascinates Gates ($108 billion)

Bridge: “My parents taught me bridge at first, but I didn’t really like it until I played with Warren Buffett”

Catan: “This strategy game is a favorite in my family. Melinda, our kids and I spent many hours sitting around the table building roads and strategizing for the first win”

Tennis – “All my life I have played tennis.” Gates paired Roger Federer in an exhibition match with Rafael Nadal and comedian Trevor Noah, which Bates/Federer won. “I wouldn’t say it was the most relaxing game of tennis I’ve ever played, but it was a lot of fun,” Gates said.

Reading. “One of my favorite ways to relax is to read. I try to read a book a week and always have a whole bag of books when I go on holiday.”

When you say Larry Ellison, you talk about yachting and sailing

Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle, has a fortune of about 95 billion dollars. He, as it were, finances his hobbies.

Allison holds a pilot’s license and owns several planes as well as an impressive car collection.

In 2012, it bought about 98 percent of Lana’i, Hawaii’s sixth-largest island, which includes two luxury resorts, two golf courses and two clubs. He bought the airline that flies to Lanai and turned the island into a kind of technological laboratory.

His home in Woodside, California, was built in honor of the Japanese emperor and has a huge collection of Japanese art. He also owns dozens of other homes in California and real estate in Kyoto.

But Ellison’s biggest and best-known hobby is yachting. In 2010, he sold his giant yacht Rising Sun to Hollywood mogul David Geffen. According to Boat International, it is the 10th largest yacht in the world.

Allison now owns Musashi, the 50th largest yacht in the world. The yacht, named after a samurai warrior, includes a basketball court (and a boat that follows the yacht, retrieving balls that have fallen into the ocean).

Mukesh Ambani – $86.8 billion

Mukesh Ambani (Chairman of Reliance Industries) is considered one of the most influential Indians. His company accounts for 5% of India’s GDP.

He is a vegetarian. Mukesh Ambani never touched liquor. He does not drink or eat meat, preferring to follow a strict vegetarian diet.

He is not picky – he also eats in fast food and the finest restaurants in Mumbai. He prefers rice, dal (lentils) and chapati, a simple flatbread made from whole wheat flour.

The morning has come. Mukesh Ambani wakes up between 5 and 5:30 every day. He then goes to the gym for an invigorating workout, reads the news and has a hearty breakfast at his favorite restaurant before heading to work.

He spends Sunday with his family. Ambani is very close to the family. He is also very religious, asking for his mother’s blessing every day before going to work. In the evening, he talks to his wife Nita about how he was at the office and what problems arose.

He limited his salary. As the head of Reliance Industries, Ambani earns $2 million a year. The amount is small, considering the large size of his company; moreover, it is the same salary he received 10 years ago. Ambani deliberately capped his salary, saying he wanted to set an example of moderation in executive compensation levels.

Collect cars. Has almost 170 vehicles. Among them are the armored BMW 670Li, Aston Martin Rapide, Rolls-Royce Phantom and Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

Larry Page

Google co-founder Larry Page ($82.4 billion) is a big fan of outdoor sports, and kiteboarding is his favorite. He frequently visits Alaska and Necker Island, the private kiteboarding island of eccentric billionaire Richard Branson

In addition to kiteboarding, Page owns a fleet of planes, including a Boeing 767, according to Forbes. It has its own private terminal at San Jose International Airport.

Steve Ballmer – Golf and Netflix

According to Business Insider, Ballmer ($81.1 billion) has been very busy since retiring from Microsoft with golf and Netflix.

Ballmer spent the time watching The Good Wife on Netflix.

It will be recalled that in 1980, Ballmer left the MBA program at Stanford to join Bill Gates at Microsoft.

Steve Ballmer said in a 2017 interview that at one point he was a member of seven different golf clubs in the United States and traveled with friends to other countries where the best golf courses were.

But he has an even more expensive hobby than golf: owning a basketball team. In 2014, he bought the Los Angeles Clippers, and Forbes named him the richest team owner in professional sports for the eighth year in a row.
