Last year, almost 130,000 new cars were registered in the country, which is 7% more than in 2021, and the used import car market shrank by 20% to 316,000 cars, according to ACAROM. If in 2021 the ratio of new cars to SH cars was 1 to 3.2, then in 2022 it will be 1 to 2.4.

In total, new car registrations reached 129,328 units in 2022, an increase of 6.7% compared to 2021, respectively 121,208 units.

New car registrations in Romania increased in December 2022 by 5% compared to December 2021, reaching 12,437 units.

Dacia was the clear market leader with almost 40,000 units, while Toyota reached 10,200. Hyundai was third with more than 9,500 cars. Four brands passed 8 thousand cars each: Skoda, Ford, Renault and Volkswagen.

As for used cars registered for the first time in Romania, their volume reached 22,413 units in December 2022, which is 18% less compared to December 2021.

In total, in 2022, the number of cars registered for the first time in Romania amounted to 316,332 units, which is 20% less compared to 2021, respectively 395,759 units.
