In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, some users who could not access their own or other people’s accounts had their access to the Twitter social network disrupted, writes AFP.

The website Downdetector recorded up to 10,000 complaints from internet users, with a peak around 00.35 GMT.

The extent of the outage was not immediately known, but AFP journalists in the United States and Asia reported difficulty accessing accounts.

Outages regularly disrupt digital platforms, and prolonged outages are the exception.

But the technical issue comes at a sensitive time for Twitter, which has been embroiled in controversy since being acquired by Elon Musk for $44 billion in late October.

The multi-entrepreneur laid off nearly 7,500 employees in the first week and 5,500 in the second, including teams involved in technical maintenance of the platform.

Elon Musk replied to a user who asked him on Wednesday if Twitter was “hacked”: “I have it working.” (source news.ro)
