Shares of OMV Petrom and Romgaz fell at midday on Wednesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). The reason for this is the solidarity tax developed by the Government.
Thus, OMV Petrom shares fell by 4.61%, to 0.435 lei, and Romgaz – by 3.5%, to 38.6 lei/share.
As for Rompetrol shares, they fell in price by 3.07% to 0.079 lei/share.
The Ministry of Finance has prepared a new solidarity tax aimed at producers of crude oil, gas and oil refineries. It is mainly about recharging.
The contribution is applied in parallel with the income tax levied by each member state on the companies concerned, which exceed by more than 20% the average taxable profit for the financial years 2018-2021, being excess profit.
If the taxable/book profit for the years 2022 and 2023 exceeds the average taxable profit by more than 20% compared to the average taxable/book profit for the period 2018-2022, it is taxed at the rate of 60%.
The deadline for submission of the declaration and payment is by June 25 of the following year inclusive or by the 25th of the sixth month inclusive after the end of the changed financial year.
