IKEA is recalling the ODGER swivel chair in anthracite, dated up to and including 2221, due to the risk of falling and injury. IKEA recommends that all customers who purchased an ODGER swivel chair in anthracite dated up to and including 2221 stop using it and contact IKEA for a full refund.

“Customer safety is IKEA’s top priority. We are therefore recalling the ODGER swivel chair in anthracite with dates up to and including 2221 (22 being the year and 21 being the week of product manufacture) as there is a risk that the star base of the chairs legs will break and cause the user to fall and get hurt,” Ikea said in a statement.

“IKEA recommends that all customers who purchased an ODGER swivel chair in anthracite, dated up to and including 2221, stop using it and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund,” the company said.

“IKEA develops products using a rigorous program of risk assessment and testing to ensure they comply with all applicable laws and standards in the markets where they are sold. However, we have learned that there is a possibility that the star-shaped base of the anthracite ODGER swivel chair, dated to and including 2221, may break,” the company said.

The ODGER swivel chair in anthracite, dated up to and including 2221, can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (tax receipt) is not required.

The name and date marking on the product is located under the seat, embossed on the seat material.
