The National Bank submitted a project for public discussion, with the help of which banks will report information about people with high incomes in credit institutions, that is, people who receive a total remuneration of at least 1 million euros.

The project is a transposition of the European directive, and the first reporting will be done in August 2023 for bankers who have reached in 2022 revenues of more than one million euros.

According to the European Banking Authority, Romania has three bankers with an annual profit of more than 1 million euros – two from the bank’s senior management and one supervisory banker, the same situation as in Portugal, Hungary and Slovenia. The Greeks do not have a single case of a banker with such an income, and the Bulgarians have only one case.

The most millionaire bankers in euros are in Spain (128), Italy (187), France (228) and Germany (543).

The average annual remuneration of the two Romanian top management bankers is 1.5 million euros, which translates to about 5,970 euros/working day.
