Members of the Coalition for the Development of Romania (CDR) supported Romania’s accession to the Schengen area through meetings with the authorities, public statements, appeals to embassies, discussions with business organizations from EU member states, emphasizing numerous economic advantages, not only for our country, but also for the entire European economy, CDR said in a statement sent Friday evening.
The economic and social benefits of Romania’s accession to the Schengen zone include stimulating the economy, facilitating trade with other European countries; increasing the attractiveness of Romania as a place for investment; reduction of transport costs and time; better integration of Romania into the European community; as well as various opportunities for domestic economic agents who are looking for alternatives to place investments. All this not only helps the development of our country, but also presents opportunities for business and travel, optimizes cross-border trade, reduces transport and freight costs for other EU member states.
One of the values of CDR is Romania’s membership in the European Union, with all the benefits and responsibilities that come with it. CDR representatives are convinced that Romania deserves to be part of the Schengen area, fulfilling all the criteria for entry, as confirmed by the technical reports of the representatives of the EU states, as well as by the Commission and the European Parliament. The Romanian economy is losing important opportunities due to an unjustified rejection decision.
The business environment will continue to support the Romanian government in all the steps it will take for Romania’s accession to the Schengen area as soon as possible, so that together with the member states we can further contribute to the unity and development of Europe. economy. We remain optimistic that Romania’s efforts and evolution will be recognized as soon as possible at the level of the entire European Union, the CDR statement also said.
