In 2022, more than 8 out of 10 households in Romania (82.1%) have Internet access at home. In cities, 88.6% of households are connected to the Internet, which is 14.9 percentage points higher. more than in rural areas – 73.7%.
Among current Internet users, about 70% use the connection several times a day, and a little more than 20% once a day or almost every day.
By development region, the proportion of people who have ever used the Internet was 95.5% in the Bucharest-Ilfov region, the highest percentage in the country, followed by the North-West regions with 93.1% and the Western regions with 92.0 %. At the opposite pole is the Sud-Muntenia region with 85.4%.
The proportion of men who use or have ever used the Internet is slightly higher than that of women: 90.0% compared to 89.3%, a difference of 0.7 percentage points down from the previous year, when the difference was 1.6 percentage points points
The proportion of people who use the Internet decreases with age. Thus, the share of people using the Internet in the age group of 16-34 years was 98.1%, and in the age group of 55-74 years – 73.3%.
