
In the first nine months of 2022, Romania imported 1.666 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) of usable natural gas, down 19.2% (-396,200 toe) from the same period last year, according to centralized data . National Institute of Statistics, quoted by Agerpres.
Domestic production of natural gas for the mentioned period was almost 5.17 million tons, which is 4.3% (233,100 tons) lower than in the first nine months of 2021.
The National Strategy and Forecasting Commission estimates gas production in 2022 at 7.45 million tons, and imports at 2.33 million tons, which will increase by 1.9% year-on-year and decrease by 19 .6% respectively.
Romania started exporting gas to the Republic of Moldova through the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline on Saturday at noon, Transgaz representatives reported.
