The president of the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF), Lucian Ovidiu Heiush, said on Friday that he does not know how many Romanians have a Revolut account and how much money they have on the card, saying that the Lithuanian bank that owns the card provides financial services to authorities Romanian authorities any requested information.
He stated that if a person thinks they can put money into Revolut that they can’t justify and fraud inspectors can’t find, then they are wrong.
At a press conference on Friday, Lucian Ovidiu Heiuš was asked if he had an estimate of the sums that Romanians keep in Revolut and have not declared.
“No, and I think it’s wrong to say that they keep money somewhere with the purpose of hiding it. You can say that everyone keeps their money in any bank, because Revolut has also become a bank. I don’t think anyone who has a Revolut card or uses Revolut has something to hide. I can’t tell you and I don’t know today how much money and how many Romanians have their Revolut accounts, but I can tell you very clearly that we cooperate very well with this bank located in Lithuania and we exchange information in a very short time time and provide us with any information we request. If someone imagines that you have some money, that you cannot justify it, and you put it on one of these cards, we cannot find it, they are wrong,” said the ANAF president.
