
From November 1, 2022, the European Union and the Republic of Moldova will mutually recognize their status as an authorized economic operator (AEO), thus facilitating commercial exchanges between the two territories.
Thus, the Republic of Moldova joins an important group of countries with which the EU has concluded such an agreement on mutual recognition in the field of AEO, such as: USA, China, Japan, Great Britain or Switzerland. It should be noted that the EU is Moldova’s largest trading partner, accounting for 52.2% of total trade. EU exports to Moldova in 2021 amounted to 3.8 billion euros.
With an AEO permit, economic operators from the European Union and the Republic of Moldova carrying out import-export customs operations between these territories will receive a number of advantages, such as: priority during customs control and customs clearance of goods or a reduced number of checks, given that the customs authorities will consider AEO as a reliable partner.
