The Regional Commissariat for the Protection of Consumer Rights of the Southern Muntenia region imposed two fines totaling 20,000 lei on the Electrica Furnizare company for not issuing invoices to customers, writes News.ro. The fines came after the consumer watchdog told the electricity supplier that they had received numerous complaints from customers who feared they would be hit with high bills and asked the firm to issue bills.

The announcement of the fines applied to the company Electrica Furnizare was published on Facebook by the chief commissioner of the Regional Commissariat for the Protection of Consumer Rights of the Southern Muntenia Region, Ion Iordeescu.

“We are sending details of the steps taken by the Regional Consumer Protection Commissioner of the South Muntenia region to remedy the situation regarding the non-issuance of electric bills by Electrica Furnizare. This week, the commissioners of the district consumer protection commission of Prahov imposed 2 fines on the economic operator in the total amount of 20,000 lei for non-compliance with the measures set out in the previous control document (issuance of invoices within a maximum of 15 days), as well as for non-fulfillment of contractual conditions regarding timely invoicing. At the same time, measures were taken to eliminate the shortcomings (invoicing of household consumers),” writes the head of CRPC Sud-Muntenia.

The response received from Electrica Furnizare by the institution that protects the interests of consumers is published. Company representatives reiterate that the invoicing process has been delayed due to changes in legislation, and say that those who receive large invoices can request payment in instalments, and for customers affected by late invoicing, there will be ” an additional grace period for their payment”. .
