In the fall of 2021, the Rolls Royce company announced the release of an electric car and said that by 2030 the entire model range will be electrified.

Now the British brand has unveiled its first Spectre, a 5.45-meter-long car weighing almost 3,000 kg, an all-electric model where the batteries weigh 700 kg.

It will be one of the most powerful electric cars, which will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km in 4.5 seconds and will have an engine with a power equivalent to 576 hp. It is expected that the range will be 520 km, and the battery will be one of the most powerful to be installed on a production car: 120 kWh.

“Spectre is a Rolls Royce first and an electric car second,” said company boss Thorsten Müller-Otves.

In the price range, Rolls will position the Specter between the Cullinan SUV and the Phantom sedan. The company calls the Specter an “ultra-luxury electric super coupe.”

Homologation tests of the electric car will be completed in the spring of 2023.

Rolls Royce released an electric prototype called the 102EX 11 years ago.

The company says it is fulfilling a prophecy made by one of its founders, Charles Rolls, made in 1900, who, after testing an electric car, said that the future of the car was electric because the electric car was quiet and environmentally friendly. .

Things went in the opposite direction and the century was the century of internal combustion cars, and even 10 years ago it seemed hard to believe that the day would come when an electric Rolls Royce would be released, although electric concepts existed.

For this new model, the company uses the “Luxury Architecture” platform, which was used for the Phantom and Cullinan.

Rolls Royce had its best year in 2021 after sales reached 5,500 vehicles, a 49% increase in a year when most car brands fell due to the semiconductor crisis.

How Rolls Royce sales have developed over the past 15 years:

2007: 1010 cars

2009: 1002

2010: 2711

2014: 4063

2017: 3438
