On Thursday, the government wants to approve the addition of one billion lei to the budget of the state aid scheme for investments with a large impact on the economy, from the current 6.38 billion lei to 7.38 billion lei. The reason: 192 applications for financing were recently submitted by investors in such areas as the food industry, the production of building materials, auto parts and paper.

In the explanatory memorandum of the draft DG, which is under consideration of the government on Thursday, it is stated that the Ministry of Finance held from June 15 to July 26, 2022 a session of registration of requests for obtaining consent for investment financing of more than 1 million euros, and investors were very interested in receiving of this state aid.

  • “At the end of this session, there was a particular interest among investors to access state aid based on this state aid scheme, as evidenced by 192 registered cases. Among them, many investment projects have a large value, in the order of tens of millions of euros.
  • At the same time, the budget of the state aid scheme, which remains available to the employee until the maximum amount of 6,380 million lei is reached, is very small compared to the requests received, which implies the issuance of a very small number of funding agreements.
  • In order to be able to support as many projects as possible, the advantages of which in terms of economic and social development at the regional and national levels are obvious, it is necessary to increase the total budget of the state aid scheme established by GD no. 807/2014″, the explanatory note says.

By the way Ministry of Finance announced on August 9 the results of the selection process of requests for funding approval for this state aid scheme, after which also announced that it will offer to add 1 billion lei the maximum budget of this scheme.
