Germany increased exports of goods in the first half of 2022. Export volume rose 13.4 percent year-on-year to €763.9 billion, announced on Friday, August 12, the German Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden (Destatis).
At the same time, German exports to Russia in January-June fell by 34.5% year-on-year and totaled 8.3 billion euros. This is due to the war in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed against Russia.
The volume of German imports in the first six months of 2022 increased by 26.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching 729.6 billion euros.
Imports from Russia to Germany increased in value by 51.3 percent to €22.6 billion, which in particular was due to rising energy prices. In physical terms, imports from Russia decreased by 24% compared to the first half of 2021.
