“The price at the gas station has fallen below the price from which the increases began. From what I saw today, when I passed by the gas station, I saw like 7.70 lei – the price of gasoline, lower than 7.80, as it was before,” Energy Minister Virgil Popescu said on Wednesday.

Referring to the compensatory measure of 50 paise per fuel, the energy minister claims that companies have reduced prices even though it was a voluntary measure.

  • “Companies have made access voluntary, it’s a voluntary measure, and it’s been seen that this partnership between government and industry has worked and prices have come down. And when the quotations fell, the prices at the gas stations also fell,” said Popescu.

He did not want to make other assessments about the development of prices in the next period.

  • “I would not like to make predictions, and no one can make predictions in a very volatile market. I can tell you that only from the analyzes I noticed a decrease in the demand for oil, but it may be short-term, it is impossible to estimate,” said the Minister of Energy.
