Porsche has published financial results for 2023 turnover over 40 billion euros (40.53 billion euros, +7.7% compared to 2022) and operating margin of 7.6 billion euros (+18%).
Oliver Blum, chairman of the executive committee of Porsche AG, described the results as “solid” despite the difficult economic environment.
Wonderful figures in a delicate context
Despite the situation, which is characterized by a shortage of components and a difficult geopolitical situation, In 2023, Porsche sold 320,221 new cars, which is 3.3% more than in 2022. The 911 remains the brand’s reliable choice, with sales up 24% to 50,146 units. The 718 models (Boxster and Cayman) also saw growth of 12.7% to 20,518 units, thanks in particular to numerous products such as the GT4 RS and Spyder RS, two models that better match Porsche’s DNA with their naturally aspirated six. Customers also no doubt wanted to take advantage of the recent thermal Boxster and Cayman, as these two models will go electric in 2025.
The Cayenne, despite falling 8.4% to 87,553 units, remains Porsche’s best-selling car, ahead of only the Macan (87,355 units) and the Panamera (34,020 units). The popularity of the Taycan continues to grow: in 2023, more than 40,000 units were sold (+16%). The Cayenne will benefit, in particular, from a new version that recently hit the market, while the Macan is set to begin a major transition in 2024 with the newly introduced 100% electric model.
Porsche is planning significant investments for the future
“2023 was a very difficult year on a macroeconomic level, but our team showed excellent results”said Oliver Blum. “We achieved our targets thanks to our extremely high investment in digitization, our product portfolio and innovation, as well as our brand experience. ยป
In 2024, Porsche plans to reach a turnover of 40 to 42 billion euros. “Our goal remains the same: to further increase Porsche’s profitability. In the long term, we want to achieve an operating profitability of the group above 20%.”– concluded Oliver Blum.
To do this, Porsche will obviously rely on models that have been successful, starting with the 911, which will still be eligible for a host of special versions that sell for high prices and will be snapped up like hotcakes as production will be limited. .
At the same time, the Stuttgart firm will also present its first 911 hybrid this summer.
