For several years now, Tesla has been a hit all over the world, and electric cars are selling like hotcakes. And the company’s success continues.

A terrible accident on a Tesla Model

This is especially true for the Model Y, as well as the Model 3, SUV and sedan, which are very popular with buyers. But that’s not all, because the American manufacturer also sells the Model S, which has the shape of an even larger sedan, as well as a model for the wealthiest customers. This is especially true Angela Chao, an American businesswoman and daughter-in-law of Republican Senator Mitch McConnell. But recently, the last driver of her electric car was the victim of an accident that cost her her life. The story happened on February 11, but was not made public until a few weeks later. At the wheel of a car, a woman who was returning from celebrating the Chinese New Year, drowned in a pond located on her property in Texas. This discovery came from the Wall Street Journal, which had access to the report of firefighters who responded to the scene.

The Tesla model’s windows are to blame

But the circumstances of the drowning of the director of the shipping company Foremost Group raise questions. Angela Chao decided to take her car to cross her huge garden and allegedly swerved back and forth before falling into the pond. The problem is that the SUV is equipped with tempered glass windows, which are known to be almost shatterproof. And it was this strength that cemented the tragic fate of Angela Chao. After an unsuccessful maneuver, a 50-year-old woman found herself behind the wheel trapped by her Tesla, who is drowning in his ranch pond. Despite the fact that she tried to escape from the car, she called her friend for help on the phone to no avail. The incident report states that the rescue team arrived at the scene 24 minutes after the call, but the car was already completely submerged. Angela Chao, who was unconscious, could not be resuscitated. According to preliminary information, it was indeed a simple accident, but the investigation is still ongoing.

According to tests conducted by the American Automobile Association, the glass that the SUV is equipped with is virtually indestructible under water, which can cause serious problems, as it was in this case.
