Will learning to drive in the snow soon become mandatory? Auto Plus news in your smartphone

Before we can get behind the wheel with complete freedom, we all have to learn how to drive. An important step that allows you to know all the basics.

The new measure is being discussed by the European Parliament

But over the years, the driver’s license has changed many times to make it more complete, but also a little more complicated. And this is most often at the initiative of the government, but from time to time also at the initiative European Union. In this regard, the European Parliament discussed this issue a few days earlier, rejecting, in particular, the mandatory medical examination for obtaining a driver’s license, as well as a check every fifteen years. However, other measures were also discussed. Among them, some directly related to the issue of driver training. The aim is to better train drivers and increase their awareness of the risks, especially for vulnerable users such as pedestrians, cyclists and electric scooter users. The project involves special training for driving in winter conditions, which are known to be particularly difficult.

A new measure with one goal: more security

According to Karima Delli, rapporteur of the European Parliament, this project aims to ” to move closer to the goal of zero road deaths by 2050 and create a stronger foundation to protect everyone from accidents. The rules include optional medical tests when issuing or renewing driving licenses and stricter provisions for newcomers“. At this point, we don’t really know what learning is driving in winter conditions, but we should probably get the details a little later. This may take the form of a theory test on the concepts of driving in snow or rain, as well as various checks on your vehicle. Don’t learner drivers need to take a mountain driving course? Unfortunately, it’s hard to find out more at the moment, so you’ll have to be patient.

In any case, constant vigilance and proper training remain essential to keep everyone safe on our roads, whatever the season.
