Charging electric cars can be more economical

In the context of the electric mobility boom, Avere-France, in partnership with P3 Group, has just presented a new half-yearly report on the cost of the utility bill for electric cars. This report presents the evolution of average monthly prices for public gatherings, as well as the factors that contributed to price fluctuations for the second half of 2023.
According to this study, a driver who drives 11,000 km/year spends an average of 11,000 km/year from €8.87 to €18.00 per month (with or without a charging subscription) to charge your car at charging stations open to the public. A driver who drives 30,000 km per year spends an average of almost €63.00 extra.
The report also compares the price of recharging an electric car with the cost of refueling a thermal car: Avere-France concludes that recharging electric cars can be more economical than a traditional one full of fuel.

The price of public charging: slightly lower electricity costs

The study also focuses on changes in tariffs: despite the introduction of the state price shield, in August 2023 the cost of electricity increased by 10%. But since November 2023, the market has seen a downward trend in prices. Despite the reduction in the price per kWh of electricity, Avere-France noted an increase in the final cost of public charging through additional costs from service providers: start-up fee, end-of-session fee or parking fee after payment.
During the last six months of 2023, these fees increased, resulting in a slight increase in final cost public charging. In summary, we can say that average prices for public charging remain relatively stable with a slight upward trend.
The methodology used in this study allows you to create a single basis for comparing the prices offered 17 providers of mobility services on the French market and represented at national, regional or car manufacturer levels.

Established in 1978, Avere-France is the national association for the development of electric mobility in France.
