
Assessment of energy and environmental performance of cars sold in Europe
Created by Euro NCAP, Green NCAP is an independent European organization that assesses the energy and environmental performance of cars sold in Europe, as well as their emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants.
During the latest series of tests, Green NCAP became interested six new cars : BMW i4, BYD Dolphin, Hyundai Ioniq 6, MG 4, Smart #3 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. These four models are equipped with 48V electric and mild hybrid petrol engines and have received varying ratings from three to five stars for emissions and energy efficiency.
There BMW i4equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 286 horsepower, gets a rating 5 stars to Green NCAP tests with an overall rating 96%. Specifically, it scores 10/10 on the Air Quality Index, 9.3/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 9.5/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index.
There BYD Dolphinequipped with a 204-horsepower electric motor, gets a rating 5 stars to Green NCAP tests with an overall rating 98%. Specifically, it scores 10/10 on the Air Quality Index, 9.6/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 9.9/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index.
Green NCAP: 5 electric models and 1 micro-hybrid 48 V tested
There Hyundai Ioniq 6equipped with a 325-horsepower electric motor, gets a rating 5 stars to Green NCAP tests with an overall rating 98%. Specifically, it scores 10/10 on the Air Quality Index, 9.6/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 9.8/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index.
There MG4equipped with a 204-horsepower electric motor, gets a rating 5 stars to Green NCAP tests with an overall rating 95%. Specifically, it scores 10/10 on the Air Quality Index, 9.2/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 9.4/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index.
There Smart #3equipped with a 272-horsepower electric motor and a 65 kWh battery, gets a rating of 5 stars to Green NCAP tests with an overall rating 95%. Specifically, it scores 10/10 on the Air Quality Index, 9.2/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 9.4/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index.
There BMW 2 Series Active Tourerequipped with a 48 V micro-hybrid gasoline engine with a capacity of 170 horsepower, gets a rating 3 stars to Green NCAP tests with an overall rating 51%. Specifically, it scores 7.5/10 on the Air Quality Index, 4.7/10 on the Energy Efficiency Index, and 3.1/10 on the Greenhouse Gas Index.
