A prestigious competition
Every year, the automotive year starts very strong. And it is not for nothing that the beginning of the season is marked by the presentation of several awards, including the award for the car of the year from the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year competition on March 8, but not only. Because one of the most anticipated is also the European Car of the Year trophy. This competition was established in 1964 and each year the award is given to a model chosen by a jury made up exclusively of industry professionals, namely motoring journalists from all over Europe. Several criteria are taken into account in the rating, for example design, comfort, safety, economy, road handling, performance, functionality, environmental friendliness, driving pleasure, as well as price, among others. Last year, the Jeep Avenger was awarded with success Kia EV6 and Toyota Yaris. But then who is the winner of this 2024 edition? Find out the answer below…

Victory of France
Before we go any further, let’s take a look at the selection process. First of all, the jury selected 22 cars according to several criteria: the vehicle had to be placed on the European market during the last twelve months preceding the current year’s trophy. In addition, nominees must be sold in at least five European markets, with projected sales of at least five thousand copies per year. So no supercars of any kind. Last November, seven finalists were selected, namely the BMW 5 Series, BYD Seal, Kia EV9, Peugeot 3008, Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric, Toyota C-HR and Volvo EX30. It’s finally electric SUV from the diamond brand which has just received a prestigious trophy on the occasion of the opening of the Geneva Motor Show. The latter was officially presented to the general public last September in Munich, and deliveries in France should begin in the coming months.
